Ruling party denies tactics to stifle democracy in Ethiopia

Tigray is a stronghold of the governing party the EPRDF and Arena, the main opposition group there say some of their candidates have been intimidated into stepping down.

The government says it has investigated the opposition complaints and found them baseless.

But the BBC's Uduak Amimo put it to Redwan Hussein, a member of the EPRDF, the governing party's executive committee and campaign strategist that the party was stifling democracy.
