Today is World Press Freedom Day, a day designated by the UN to promote freedom of expression and to expose the plight of journalists who are persecuted for their trade.

So how free is Africa's press?

A report issued today by Reporters Without Borders names and shames all of those, who according to the organisation, have the power to censor, imprison, kidnap, torture and, in the worst cases, murder journalists.

Out of 40 of the worst countries ten are in Africa.

Network Africa's Josephine Hazeley has been reading the report.
