Niger continues to be gripped by a severe food crisis.
Hit hard by drought, nearly eight million people are said to be affected by the food shortage.
The United Nations say nearly $200 million in urgent aid is needed.
The UN's humanitarian chief, John Holmes, is in the country on a four day visit and travelled to south Niger, one of the areas worst affected to assess the situation on the ground.
Network Africa's Paul Bakbinga spoke to Mr Holmes from the southern city of Zinder.
