Nigeria's acting president, Goodluck Jonathan, is in Washington on his first trip abroad since he assumed executive powers two months ago. He will attend an international summit on nuclear security.

Nigeria is the United States's largest trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.

Professor Peter Lewis is the Director of the African Studies programme at the John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

Network Africa's Aklwasi Sarpong asked him what was on the agenda as the Nigerian leader met his US counterpart.
