Huge doubts remain over the Sudanese elections, due to begin in just a few days time.
On Wednesday, the former southern rebels, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, withdrew from the presidential election and polls in Darfur.
24 hours later, several major northern opposition candidates also said they would boycott the presidential elections.
And then last night, a coalition of parties, largely made up of the northern opposition, announced a total boycott of the polls.
