Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of the Somali capital Mogadishu today, protesting against al-Shabab militants.

The protestors called on the government to fight the group, and also appealed to the international community to militarily support the government in their war agains the rebels.

It was the second and by far the largest demonstration against the rebel group since an earlier protest in December expressing outrage at a suicide attack which killed 19 people including four ministers.

Our correspondent Mohamed Olad Hassan was at demonstration and he sent us this report.
