Human rights campaigners in Burundi have accused the authorities of letting people take justice in their own hands.
A report released today says at least 75 suspected criminals were killed by mob justice last year alone.
Human Rights Watch and the Association for the Protection of Human Rights and Detained Persons in Burundi say that suspected criminals were killed for crimes ranging from rape to a simple theft of banana or potatoes.
