Police in Zambia have blocked campaigners planning to hold a good governance rally this weekend in a densely populated residential area just north of Zambia's capital, Lusaka.

The protesters are part of a civil society coalition hoping to officially start the 'red card' campaign against President Rupiah Banda's rule.

Father Frank Bwalya, a Catholic priest, was arrested recently for distributing red cards in Zambia's Copperbelt Province.
