Today a five-day conference organised by the West Africa regional grouping, Ecowas, opens to commemorate and evaluate twenty years of the organisation's involvement in peace processes across the region.
Fittingly, the conference is taking place in the Liberian capital, Monrovia, where Ecomog troops were first deployed in 1990.
But that intervention - and the one in Sierra Leone - are now some years back. So what about Ecomog today, in 2010?
Dr Abdel Fatau Musah is the Director of Political Affairs at Ecowas, he spoke to Network Africa's Federick Dove.
