In Ethiopia the prime minister Meles Zenawi has been hitting out at foreign media organisations.
Speaking to journalists at a news conference, he accused the Voice of America's Amharic language service of propagating hate speech.
He also denied allegations contained in a recent BBC documentary that he diverted food aid money to purchase weapons to fight the government of Mengistu Haile Mariam.
