Malawi's protestant churches are grappling with the issue of homosexuality.

It's one of the hot topics at a meeting of the Malawi Council of Churces that's wrapping up today.

The religious leaders are also talking about other social issues, but it's homosexuality that has grabbed international attention.

A verdict in the case of two men holding a wedding ceremony is expected at the beginning of next week and some donors have expressed disquiet about the way gay people are treated.

So what are the churchmen saying?

On the line from Malawi earlier, Akwasi Sarpong spoke to Lutheran Bishop Joseph Bvumbwe, the chairperson of the Malawi Council of Churches and asked him why they have chosen to talk about homosexuality?
