A group of senior Gambian military officials have been charged with treason for allegedly trying to overthrow President Yayah Jammeh in a coup.

Today's accused were arrested late last year and their charges come after a series of arrests of high profile people over the past few months.

The BBC's Tidiane Sy has been monitoring the story from neighbouring Senegal.
