The fatalities from yesterday's attacks in the Nigerian village of Dogo Nahawa, in Nigeria's central plateau state appear to be much worse than initially thought.
Surprise attacks were launched in the early hours of Sunday morning by armed men who surrounded three villages wielding machetes and firing guns.
Security forces have now been put on red alert on orders from the acting president, Goodluck Jonathan, following what authorities say was a pre-meditated attack.
