Sudan's President Omar al Bashir is due, later today, to launch his campaign for re-election in the south, the region that fought for two decades against his party's rule.

At the same time, a conference of southern political parties is expected to begin the process of establishing a code of conduct for the historic elections due in April.

Paul Bakibinga spoke to our reporter in the southern capital Juba, Peter Martell and began by asking him about the significance of President Bashir's visit.
