There is a growing link between drugs trafficking and terrorism in West Africa.
This is the conclusion of a high profile three-day international conference in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.
The region has long been a transit point for drugs from Latin America through West Africa and into Europe.
Experts say the trade does not just fund terrorist groups, it is also fuelling growing levels of consumption as drugs production bases spring up.
Network Africa's Akwasi Sarpong asked Dr. Kwesi Aning of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, and expert on the drugs trade if the link between drugs and terrorism was new.
