In the first case of its kind, a high court in Lagos has begun the trial of a man alleged to be a leading figure in the music piracy industry in Nigeria.

His arraignment is seen as a landmark achievement in the fight by Nigerian musicians against piracy of their work.

Last year the Nigerian music industry mapped out various strategies to tackle the crime, even calling on broadcasters to observe a "no music day".
