The top leadership body of Uganda's ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as its candidate in the next election.
The decision of the body, the Central Executive Committee, could pave the way for Mr Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, to run for a fourth term.
He won the last election in a campaign marred by violence, and the opposition has pledged to field a single candidate in the election due in 2011. F
