Finding Hope by Lillian S.
There was a country torn apart by war. All was ruined. Nothing was standing fully! Buildings all around looked like they could fall apart at any point. The sky was a haze of dust. In the middle of the dust sat a ginger and white cat who was sitting on a pile of rubble. His name was Hope. Hope was from a long line of helpful cats who knew their purpose was to help people in need. The sirens had sounded their last call a few hours ago that's how Hope knew it was safe to come out into the streets. In the distance he heard a child's voice saying 'Help!' and Hope knew that someone was in trouble. Hope carefully followed the sound of the child's desperate voice and found a frightened, young boy who was wearing ragged clothes. He looked grateful as Hope approached him."Can you help me find my mum?" said the boy. "After the bombs dropped near my home she has been nowhere to be seen. I have explored the remains of my house over and over again, but my mum is still not there'. The boy was shaking with fear. Little did he know Hope would stay by his side until they found what he needed. Hope nodded his head bravely, his way of saying Yes. The boy turned and Hope followed. "Let's go to my Auntie's house. She may know where my mum is." They walked past lots of piles of rock that had once been the most beautiful family homes anyone would have wished to live in.Hope noticed many scared children on the way. They were crying and trying to find their loved ones. Every child was full of hope that they could find the most important things that mattered to them. Finally Hope and the boy came across a pile of rubble. It was where his aunt's house had stood. It was shocking! There was no sign of anyone! The boy's heart was thudding so fast he thought it might explode and he started to cry. Hope looked around curiously and noticed a small movement between the broken bricks of the home. Hope pounced to the bricks and he saw the soft fingers of a hand poking out. Hope miaowed loudly and got his friend's attention. Quickly the pair pulled the bricks and stones away helping the person underneath. When the last heavy stone was removed they saw a battered woman who cried "Thank you" in tears. "Mum!" the boy shouted in tears. He sprinted towards and gave her a massive hug. "I'm so relieved I found you!"Hope nudged his body softly against the mum and her son purring with happiness. Hope knew that when there is a challenge that you have to face you should never lose hope. You can always ask for help.
