Heather Watson and Maria Fernanda Alves have lost in the first round of the doubles event at the ITF tournament in Phoenix, United States. The 18-year-old from Guernsey and her Brazilian partner lost 10-8 in the play-off game after the opening two sets were shared. Watson now takes on Canada's Heidi El Tabakh in the singles on Wednesday. The Sarnian won the the Tevlin Challenger tournament in Toronto, Canada last week.
