Johnston has scored four tries in 10 appearances this season |
Northampton have completed the signing of Saracens centre Ben Johnston on a three-year deal starting next season. The 28-year-old has made 178 appearances for Sarries since joining the club from Waterloo in 1998.
"It was a pretty tough decision, as I have been at Saracens so long, and it was certainly not one I could make overnight," he said.
"Having spoken to the club and seeing what coach Paul Grayson wants to do, it is a good time to get on board."
Johnston, who played for the Saxons last year, was capped twice by England in 2002.
He made 10 appearances for Saracens this season but has been ruled out since November after undergoing surgery on a groin injury.
"Ben has taken a decision based on what he feels is best for his rugby career and his family and we have to respect that," Saracens rugby director Alan Gaffney told the club's website.
"He's been with Saracens for eight seasons and has been a very good servant to the club. We wish him all the best for the future."
