Harvey has failed to guide Rovers to a league win since August
Forest Green boss Jim Harvey saluted Kaid Mohamed as the striker scored a last-gasp Setanta Shield third round winner against Oxford United.
Mohamed scored deep into extra time, in the 118th minute, to make it 2-1.
Harvey told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It was a tremendous goal. He has a lot of energy and he's always capable of scoring a goal like that.
"One or two of the lads needed a game and John Hardiker being injured didn't help but we moved the ball well."
He added: "Things haven't been good but the first half was the best we've produced for a while. I hope we've turned the corner."
Harvey gave a debut to loan signing Darran Kempson and was pleased with his contribution.
"He played for me at Morecambe and he was surplus to requirements at Wrexham," he said.
"I've brought him in for a month and I'm glad he's here with John going off. We've been short of bodies and his performance, especially his tackling, rubbed off on the other players."
