Drogheda 0-2 Derry City
Derry City striker
Midfielder Alan Murphy bagged a brace for Derry City
Alan Murphy scored a goal in each half as Derry City got their Eircom League campaign off to a dream start with a 2-0 victory at United Park.

It was a great win for the Candystripes who were without banned trio Damien Brennan, Eddie McCallion and Barry Molloy for the trip to Drogheda.

Former Galway favourite Murphy stunned Drogheda with a screamer from 25 yards for the opener in the 27th minute.

Murphy doubled his tally on the hour after a Brian Cash run down the right.
