Stephen Kenny's Derry side lost away to Waterford United |
Stephen Kenny's Derry City brought a disappointing end to their Eircom Premier Division season as Pat Purcell scored a late winner for Waterford.
Having had the better of the second half, with striker Mark Farren firing wide on three occasions, Derry succumbed to a late Blues charge.
Paddy McLaughlin's clumsy challenge on Dave Mulcahy gave Waterford goalkeeper Dan Connor an 87th minute penalty.
But his spot kick was palmed away by opposite number David Forde.
But Derry lapsed in the final seconds as an Alan Carey cross was headed home by Purcell in the second minute of stoppage-time.
