Padiham continue successful run against Rossendale
Padiham emerged with a 2-0 win over Rossendale in one of only two games in the Vodkat League that survived the freezing conditions at the weekend.
It was the latest in a series of good results for Padiham, who have now won five of their last six games.
Padiham went ahead in the 12th minute when Martin Parkes volleyed home at the far post from Ed O'Neill's corner.
The home side increased their lead in the 35th minute when Stuart Telfer scored at the second attempt.
"It wasn't a great game to watch, and the conditions weren't great," said Padiham manager Craig Chadwick said. "We didn't play the type of football we like to play, but we were generally well disciplined and kept a clean sheet which is the most important thing.
By the time we scored we could have been two down, but we took our chances when they came
Padiham manager Craig Chadwick
"Earlier in the season we didn't seem to be getting a lot of luck but now maybe the tide has turned and we're getting a few breaks.
"I think we were a bit lucky to go in front when we did, by the time we scored we could have been two down, but we took our chances when they came."
Rossendale United manager Paul Colgan said: "Looking back at the game you have to say we should have taken our chances early doors.
"The back four went missing a couple of times and that cost us, but the forwards should have taken their chances. We showed naivety and inexperience but that's no excuse, we had four or five good chances and should have put some of them away."
