Sale Sharks have signed scrum-half Xavier Roe on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old joins from New Zealand side Chiefs, having spent five years there, scoring 40 points in 58 appearances for the Super Rugby club.

He will join up with Alex Sanderson's squad in time for beginning of the 2026-27 Prem season in September.

Roe, who is officially uncapped but featured for an All Blacks XV on a 2025 tour, said he wanted to "experience a new environment, new players, and another country".

"I've been at the Chiefs for a long time and I'm at a stage in my career where I want to try something new," he told Sale's club website, external.

Director of rugby Alex Sanderson said Roe would "bring real quality" to the club.

"He's maybe not a player all of our fans will know too much about but if you scratch below the surface of the current All Blacks squad, he's right there and you don't get there unless you're absolute quality," Sanderson added.

"It's a big move for him and a big commitment to come over, but we're getting him at the peak of his powers and we're really excited to get him here to see what he can do."
