Bradford Bulls coach Kurt Haggerty says vice-captain Ryan Sutton will miss Friday's trip to Leigh Leopards with a thumb injury.

Haggerty claims Sutton has not broken his thumb but that he has damaged his ligaments and hopes he will return for the game away to Toulouse Olympique on August 29.

"He won't play this week," Haggerty told BBC Radio Leeds. "He's not got a fracture but it's pretty bad in regards to the ligament damage. Hopefully he'll be back for Toulouse."

Haggerty added full-back Luke Hooley is "50/50" after he hurt his knee in Saturday's loss to Wigan Warriors, as is Joe Mellor, while Phoenix Steinwede is out after he failed a head injury assessment (HIA).

Haggerty added both Waqa Blake and Ebon Scurr are available after, respectively, knee issues and illness.

"Luke Hooley looks OK," he said. "He's 50/50 whether he plays this week and Phoenix Steinwede will miss the game with an HIA."
