Wales to host USA in Neath friendly

Wales will play USA in a rugby league friendly at the Gnoll in the autumn.

Paul Berry's side will host the Americans in Neath on Saturday, 17 October, with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

It will be the second part of a Welsh international double-header, with the women taking on England at the Rugby League World Cup in Australia earlier in the day (07:35 GMT).

The last meeting between the nations took place at the 2013 World Cup, when co-hosts Wales suffered a 24-16 loss in Wrexham.

"It's really exciting for us to have the opportunity to play the USA on home soil," said Berry.

"It's a nation we wouldn't play too regularly at any level, so we jumped at the chance when we were presented with the opportunity."

Wales last played in November when beaten 36-12 by Ireland in Featherstone, that after they had enjoyed a 24-0 home win when the sides met in Neath.
