  1. Crystal Palace 0-0 West Ham - the fans' verdictpublished at 10:50 BST

    Media caption,

We asked for your thoughts after Monday's Premier League game between Crystal Palace and West Ham United at Selhurst Park.

Here are some of your comments:

    Crystal Palace fans

Al: A dour draw against a fighting West Ham side. I'm worried about Brennan Johnson, he looks lost and out of confidence. Perhaps a break before next season will help. Another game of seeing Jaydee Canvot getting better and better. Anfield up next against a shaky Liverpool, which might just be ideal for Palace.

Richard: Humdrum stuff from Palace, but teams in West Ham's position can be hard to play against. Johnson did himself no favours with that miss though. Dean Henderson's save was worth the admission though. I'm not grumbling after Thursday.

D Lowe: If Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta had started, this was a game Palace should've won. I'm not happy that two points were lost. We fielded a weaker team at the start, which is never good. Canvot has definitely replaced Marc Guehi, and he still has years of playing time.

Dave: The performance was kind of expected from Palace. It was a good point against a fired up West Ham. We missed Adam Wharton and we were too slow in transition. The substitutes made an impact in the second half, but we didn't do enough to win the match. I'm really pleased we didn't get any new injuries as the main focus is the Europa Conference League game!

    West Ham fans

Chris: I can't help feeling it was a missed opportunity for three points, but it was still a good and confidence-building performance. Jarrod Bowen was kept quiet by their left-back and Crysencio Summerville isn't back to his best. So while the defence claims another clean sheet, there's better to come up front. It just has to happen soon.

Sue: It's so frustrating watching at the moment. They are playing well but they can't seem to score. They have to keep going and keep thinking positively. A point away to Palace is a good effort.

Norbet: We didn't have the decisive edge to win against Palace, who had no motivation and no chance of gaining European football. It's looking decidedly like the Championship beckons for a poor West Ham side.

James: Very cagey but the old adage of 'if you can't win then don't lose' comes to mind. If a point is all it takes for survival come the final day, this will be priceless.

Bubba: If only we had played like this throughout the whole season. It remains to be seen if this turnaround will be sufficient enough or too little too late. I hope the fans who worked to get David Moyes out are admitting, at least to themselves, that they are responsible for our current predicament.

After the joyous celebrations that followed qualifying for the Conference League semi-finals on Thursday, it was back to the grind for Crystal Palace.

And for much of the game, that is what it was for Palace - a grind.

But while Oliver Glasner made four changes to the team that started at Fiorentina, they all came further up the pitch as he stuck with his trusted goalkeeper and back five.

The outcome was a 12th clean sheet of the season to extend the Eagles' unbeaten run in the league to four games.

Dean Henderson's superb save and Maxence Lacroix's block were the vital moments in ensuring another shutout but the efforts of 19-year-old Jaydee Canvot to limit the threat of West Ham talisman Jarrod Bowen were even more impressive.

At the other end, it was another frustrating night for £35m January signing Brennan Johnson and it was only when Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta came on that Palace started to cause West Ham consistent problems.

While three points would have put Palace right in the mix of the battle for European qualification, a draw keeps them within striking distance and, having experienced the feeling of going deep in Europe this term, their hunger to get back there is only likely to grow.

  3. Crystal Palace 0-0 West Ham: What Glasner saidpublished at 22:25 BST 20 April

    Media caption,

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Maybe both [a good and bad point]. At the end i felt we were closer to winning than losing, but on the other side with all the circumstances and how good West Ham are, the performance was absolutely OK.

"It was not our best performance. In the final third, maybe we were not clinical enough, we had many crosses that were not accurate. I felt that we had a bit more energy at the end which is strange because of how many games we have played. That is what I really liked, the commitment of the team."

On visible frustration on the touchline: "I felt like it was a game to win. The areas they gave us, we didn't really take them well enough. We defended very well so credit to the team. [West Ham's] biggest threat was the set-plays. From open play we more or less controlled everything - but in possession we moved the ball a bit too slow. Also credit to West Ham who defended the box very well.

"I think at our best we could have won the game. Maybe Nuno says the same."

On Brennan Johnson's struggles: "It was a good step today, he was a constant threat. It was his best game out of possession. Everybody has to be patient. It's a new system for him, he plays for inside, more as a 10. He has to get used to these areas. His performance today gives me confidence that he will score goals."

Will you sacrifice players in the league for European football? "No. They will have two days of rest before Liverpool, then we start preparing. Five days after is the semi-final. We will be fresh, enough time. Maybe after the first leg we have to rotate, but as long as the players are in shape we will keep playing the freshest players and minds."

    Did you know?

    • This was Crystal Palace's sixth goalless draw in the Premier League this season, the most by a side since Newcastle United in 2022-23 (7).

    • Crystal Palace recorded their 12th clean sheet of the season, only keeping more in a Premier League campaign in 1994-95 (15). Since Oliver Glasner's first game in February 2024, only Arsenal (36) and Manchester City (32) have more shutouts in the league than Palace's 28.

  5. Crystal Palace v West Ham: Team newspublished at 19:02 BST 20 April

    Crystal Palace line-up.

Oliver Glasner makes four changes to the Crystal Palace XI that started at Fiorentina on Thursday.

Jefferson Lerma and Will Hughes come into the midfield, with Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen brought into the front three.

Adam Wharton is out with an adductor injury, while Daichi Kamada, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta drop to the bench.

Crystal Palace XI: Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Canvot, Munoz, Lerma, Hughes, Mitchell, Johnson, Pino, Strand Larsen.

Subs: Benitez, Sarr, Mateta, Clyne, Kamada, Sosa, Riad, Devenny, Cardines.

Nuno Espirito Santo sticks with the same XI that started West Ham's convincing 4-0 win over Wolves last time out.

It is nine days since that game so the Hammers should be fresh for what is a crucial game in their battle to avoid relegation.

West Ham XI: Hermansen, Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf, Bowen, Fernandes, Soucek, Summerville, Pablo, Castellanos.

Subs: Areola, Wilson, Traore, Todibo, Magassa, Wan-Bissaka, Scarles, Potts, Kante.

  6. Sutton's predictions: Crystal Palace v West Hampublished at 08:36 BST 20 April

Chris Sutton smiling on a yellow and black background with 'Sutton's predictions' written below his face

This is a big game for West Ham and, by the time they play it, they will know how all of their relegation rivals got on over the weekend.

As well as being important, this is a tough game for the Hammers too. Crystal Palace left it very late to beat Newcastle but they have now taken seven points from their past three games and seem to have found some form again.

The Eagles are safe but I am still a little bit worried about West Ham. Yes they played well against Wolves last time out, but they were very nervy until they took the lead.

This is going to be tense for them too. I don't say this about many of my predictions, but I am pretty certain about how this will end up - with the points shared.

  7. Crystal Palace v West Ham: Key stats and talking pointspublished at 13:57 BST 19 April

Crystal Palace host West Ham on Monday (20:00 BST) in a London derby which has seen plenty of goals in recent seasons.

Palace coping better after Thursday matches

Just 335 days after winning their first major trophy, Crystal Palace find themselves only 180 minutes away from a first European final.

They lost Thursday's Conference League quarter-final second leg to Fiorentina but an aggregate victory should ensure Palace's recent momentum, which has seen them win six of their past 11 matches in all competitions, is kept up.

Juggling their European and domestic commitments has proved problematic for Palace this season - they have lost six of their 10 Premier League games that have immediately followed a Conference League clash.

However, most of those defeats came in the early part of the campaign – the last four European games have been followed by two wins, a draw and just one defeat.

So there's plenty of reason for optimism ahead of the visit of their neighbours. But while only Arsenal and Manchester City have kept more than Palace's 11 home clean sheets in this season's Premier League, a London derby can often throw up different challenges.

And the Eagles have struggled to keep West Ham at bay in recent seasons, conceding a total of 13 goals on their past five visits to Selhurst Park.

Graphic of Crystal Palace's past five matches at home to West Ham

Hammers showing fight in survival battle

West Ham bounced back in style after the disappointment of a fortnight ago, when they missed out on an FA Cup semi-final on penalties.

Their biggest league win for three years - 4-0 over Wolves - moved them out of the bottom three for only the second time in 2026 and they were given another boost with relegation rivals Tottenham suffering defeat.

The Hammers' form in 2026 has not been that of a bottom-three club. They have taken 18 points from their past 11 league games, winning five of them.

The team spirit looks solid with several players' performances standing out. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who had scored one goal in his first 81 Premier League matches, has scored three in his last three, while January signing Taty Castellanos has settled straight in with five goals in all competitions so far, including two in that Wolves victory.

Meanwhile captain Jarrod Bowen, who has eight goals and eight assists this season, has been involved in nine goals in his past 10 league games, figures that are among the best in the top flight.

West Ham look to have the trickiest run-in of the teams battling to avoid relegation but on their current form, they have every chance of avoiding the drop.

Manchester United set up a mouthwatering FA Youth Cup final derby clash with Manchester City as Chido Obi's extra-time winner sealed a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

It will be the first time the local rivals have met in the final since 1986, when City emerged victorious with a 3-1 aggregate triumph.

City will host the game and last won the competition in 2024.

The most recent of United's record 11 successes came two years before that, when Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were part of the team that beat Nottingham Forest.

Fifteen-year-old JJ Gabriel thought he had given United victory with his 23rd goal of the season as he produced a fine finish to Chido's through ball 13 minutes from the end time.

However, in front of 3,189 at Old Trafford, Palace forward Raihaan Anderson levelled two minutes later as he capitalised on a mistake by home goalkeeper Cameron Byrne-Hughes, who lost control of the ball as he slid out to gather in the area.

The game that included a bizarre first-half substitution when Palace forward David Angibeaud was taken off with what seemed to be a head injury 10 minutes after he had been treated; a decision he clearly disagreed with.

Another Byrne-Hughes error almost led to a winner for Palace full-back Dean Benamar, then, extra-time, Chido set up Gabriel, but he shot straight at visitors keeper Lucca Benetton.

But as United's substitute keeper Fred Heath was warming up to come on for penalties, Australia youth international James Overy chipped a superb pass down the right to set Chido free.

The Denmark Under-21 international stepped inside Benetton and tapped home.

The two sides meet again in the Premier League Under-18 cup final at Selhurst Park on 22 April.

  9. Can Palace really go all the way?published at 12:06 BST 17 April

    BBC Sport journalist

When the Conference League was first introduced back in 2021 there were some who questioned the value of the competition.

But it has offered many teams the chance to do something they had never done before - win a major European trophy.

There were wild scenes of celebration when Roma became the inaugural winners, while the following year West Ham claimed a dramatic last-minute success against Fiorentina to end their 43-year wait for a major trophy.

Thousands gathered in the streets of east London to welcome back the victorious Hammers, underlining how much the win meant to the club and their supporters.

Crystal Palace fans will no doubt feel the same should their side go all the way and claim yet more silverware in a memorable 12 months.

Former Eagles defender James Tomkins said on TNT Sports: "The last couple of seasons have been incredible.

"They never expected to be in a European competition a couple of seasons ago but now they are going from strength to strength in this competition.

"They will feel they can go all the way."

Despite being debutants, Palace were installed as favourites to win the Conference League at the start of the season.

It took a while for them to live up to that tag, with many of their performances in Europe looking somewhat turgid.

But their 3-0 win against Fiorentina - two-time finalists in the Conference League - showed what they are capable of.

Next up for Palace is a two-legged semi-final with Shakhtar, with Strasbourg facing Rayo Vallecano in the other tie.

"They made light work of them [Fiorentina] really, but from here on in they will expect some really tough games, there is some good quality in the competition," added Tomkins.

"The question is whether they can bring the positivity from the first leg. That was the best I've seen them for a while, the three-week break did them the world of good and they looked like the team we saw early this season and last season."

The campaign will end with manager Oliver Glasner's departure, but it could also finish with a European prize.

"Of course, that is what we all want," said the Austrian.

"We want to enjoy our life together, not just the football. The more successful you are, the more you enjoy your life.

"When you play the semi-final, you want to get it all at the end and that's what we will go for."

We asked for your thoughts after Crystal Palace reached the Conference League semi-finals with an aggregate win over Fiorentina.

Here are some of your comments:

    Crystal Palace fans:

Steve: For 30 minutes, Palace looked in complete control, scoring an excellent Sarr goal. Then, the penalty and for the next 60 minutes they looked ragged and under a lot of pressure. The boys did well to hold out and go through to the semi-final. But it could, and should, have been so much easier. Still, they are there - in a European semi-final, which is so great for the club.

Adrian: It wasn't pretty and a couple of injuries to key players clearly not ideal, but it was a "professional" job in the second half. Poland next, Leipzig the dream.

Gavin: Palace defended well and over two legs deserved their win through to the semi-final. Sarr and Mitchell were standout performers and the team should be very pleased, as are the fans. Let's hope everyone is fit for West Ham. Can't wait for our first Euro semi-final. Come on you Eagles.

Neil: It's good for the boys' confidence that they are doing well in this competition and hopefully will be able to salvage something from a difficult season beset by losing key players and the manager having a wobbly and deciding to leave...

Al: The performance? Who cares, the Eagles are in the semi-finals of a European cup competition. COYP. We are living the dream.

Paul: Phew! A superb team goal on the break had us hoping for another win, but Fiorentina put up much more of a fight. Palace wobbled a bit, but in the end saw it out well. Let's hope the potential injuries are not too severe!

Andy: Started the game well, but the early injuries and soft penalty put us on the back foot. Pino didn't really get into the game and should have been changed at half-time. Good to see Canvot is becoming more confident in his game. Bring on the semi-final and hope players are fit for Monday.

Dave: A nice visit to Germany to see Palace win the Conference League.

Crystal Palace remain on course for a first major European trophy after beating Fiorentina over two legs in the quarter-final stages of the Conference League.

They will now face Shakhtar Donetsk in the club's first ever European semi-final.

  12. Fiorentina 2-1 Crystal Palace (Agg 2-4): What Glasner and Henderson saidpublished at 22:54 BST 16 April

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner speaking to TNT Sports: "Quarter-final is never easy and we made it a bit tougher than it needed to be. Fiorentina got the belief back with the penalty. It was a very difficult game to manage to be honest.

"We subbed Jean-Philippe Mateta at half-time and the team showed great resilience. The team worked hard and stuck together and over the two games we deserved to play the semi-final."

On injuries to Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix: "Adam is an abductor [injury], like when he had to leave the England camp. Let's see, it doesn't look so serious but we have to assess him further. Maxence was foot-to-foot contact and then he felt his knee, the medial ligament, so let's see but it is painful.

"Unfortunately, we play in four days again, but credit to the players that came in. Today we are celebrating going to the semi-finals, it is a massive achievement for the players and for Crystal Palace and we are enjoying tonight."

On facing Shakhtar Donetsk: "I didn't watch them but I saw the line up, I think they started with six Brazilian players and I expect them to be a very technical side. We will start to prepare watching the games they have played. Of course, in between we play West Ham and Liverpool and we want to do well in the Premier League."

On whether this could be their great end to the season: "Of course, that is what we all want. We want to enjoy our life together, not just the football. The more successful you are, the more you enjoy your life. When you play the semi-final, you want to get it all at the end and that's what we will go for."

Captain Dean Henderson speaking to TNT Sports: "This is unbelievable for this football club. Sensational when you think the FA Cup last season and then to keep going and create a new chapter in the book. It's phenomenal.

"It was a tough game, really tough. 3-0 is a dangerous scoreline and you don't really know how it will go. We managed to get through so who cares."

On the fans: "They have stuck by us in the difficult times this season and hopefully we can go and deliver something really special."

On whether Palace can win the competition: "Of course, that's what the aim is. The togetherness in the group is phenomenal and at the business end of the season, we come together. We've just got to keep pushing on and build momentum."

  13. Analysis: Sarr stars as Palace fairytale continuespublished at 22:32 BST 16 April

This has been a dream 12 months for Crystal Palace fans.

They saw their side lift their first major trophy by beating Manchester City to win the FA Cup last May and are now one game away from appearing in a historic European final.

The Palace supporters had travelled in numbers to Italy to witness the Eagles seal progression, although the party atmosphere did give way to some nervousness in the second half as Fiorentina battled back to reduce the deficit to two goals.

But ultimately Ismaila Sarr's goal in this tie - his 17th of the season - was to prove crucial in ensuring Fiorentina, runners-up in the tournament last year, were ultimately left with too much to do.

The Senegal forward has found his form in the Conference League at just the right time, with five of his seven goals in the competition having been scored since the start of February.

Palace fans, who were in excellent voice throughout Thursday night's game, will be hoping that form continues to help fire their side into the final.
