  1. 'We stamped our authority'published at 14:44 GMT

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United

    Chelsea

Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers, speaking to TNT Sports: "Massive.

"A difficult week with a poor result last weekend. We knew we had to come out here strong. In the second half, we stamped our authority and that was really good. We deserved the win."

On his goal: "Just to try to commit the defenders. All of a sudden, I was in on goal and had to stay composed. Luckily it went in."

On life at Chelsea: "Loving it. A new challenge and looking forward to playing with these wonderful quality players. It is about the team coming together as a whole. Try to be a leader and stick to what I know best. A good start, but I need to keep going."

On role today: "To try to occupy defenders in whatever space it may be. We were interchanging and doing what was necessary to occupy defenders and drag them out."

On Cole Palmer: "Friendly competition. We always push each other in training every day. If we're both doing well and the team is doing well, that's the most important."

Even during their winless run at the start of the Premier League season, there was a sense that Bournemouth were not getting the rub of the green.

They have accrued nine points this season, which is 4.5 fewer than their expected goals for and against would suggest they deserve. In the expected goals standings, Marco Rose’s side are in fifth place, whereas in reality they are 13th.

The form of their star forward Evanilson has been key to the team getting points on the board over the past fortnight. The 27-year-old, a £40 million signing from Porto in the summer of 2024, is enjoying his best spell for the club so far, showcasing a creative edge to match his scoring prowess.

Evanilson has three goals and four assists in the top flight this season, giving him as many goal contributions as he managed in the entirety of the previous campaign. Only Erling Haaland, with nine goals, and Joao Pedro, with five goals and three assists, have been more productive than him in the Premier League in 2026-27.

The forward has been supported superbly by midfielder James Tavernier too, who has netted five times in the top flight and six times in all competition.

  3. Martinez allowed 'the frustration to boil over'published at 14:40 GMT

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea didn't sit back and they were helped massively by the decision of Lisandro Martinez to give away a silly penalty for a challenge, for no reason. Just frustration.

We talked about him before, going into a challenge and getting his first yellow card by just being lazy, and allowing the frustration to boil over.

The corner was a lack of effort and just him losing his head a little bit to make the challenge that led to that second goal, and his second yellow card, which puts Manchester United into such a predicament from that point onwards.

This result is entirely on Carrick. It has been obvious for some time that Martinez does not have the stature or mentality for the Premier League. Carrick should have realised that some time ago.

A penny for Michael Carrick's thoughts, he's done everything right by his club.

There must be anger and frustration running through his bones because he's a Man United person.

39 years since Sir Alex was appointed United manager. Don’t forget he was on the brink of getting sacked after four years of not much.

    It should be 3-0.

Valentin Barco arrives at the far post but he can't keep his effort down.

Lovely ball in from Malo Gusto, though.

I think Estevao has been very good. Very dangerous down the right-hand-side, he has caused all sorts of problems for Manchester United.

It's a club that for so many years has looked like it's getting in its own way.

Patience is required, which is difficult when a club like United has had so much success and has so many expectations.

    Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

It is easier to replace a manager than replace the whole team.

Unfortunately, when clubs do make the decision, generally it is the manager to go.

For me, this is not on Michael Carrick. It is a senior player being sent off, which is crazy.
