Bristol Rovers have signed Motherwell defender Kofi Balmer on a permanent two-year deal.
Balmer joined the Pirates on loan for the second half of the 2025-26 season, making 22 appearances for Steve Evans' side, scoring two goals.
The 25-year-old told the club website:, external "It feels amazing to sign permanently. After an enjoyable and good finish to the season, and a really good loan for me, I felt like I was in a really good place at Rovers.
"There were good people around me and it felt like the right decision to stay with the Gas. When you have something good, you want it to keep going for as long as possible, and I think it will be one I look back at and thank myself for doing.
"Since the very first conversation I had with the gaffer, before I came down on loan, I knew I would enjoy it at Rovers. I've enjoyed the graft, working hard, and I feel he's got the best out of me so far."
Boss Evans added: "Kofi was nothing short of exceptional during his loan with us and I'm delighted he's joined us on a permanent deal.
"There is always a lot of interest in a player of Kofi's ability, but I'm really happy Kofi has signed with us despite offers from League One clubs."
Balmer was signed by Crystal Palace from Northern Ireland Football League Premiership side Larne FC in 2022, before appearing for AFC Wimbledon and Port Vale on-loan in the EFL.
He joined Motherwell in 2024, making 33 appearances in all competitions before arriving at the Memorial Stadium in January.
Palmer joins Richie Smallwood, Brad Young and Ellis Harrison in signing new deals to join Steve Evans' squad for 2026-27.
