Barnsley are in talks with veteran striker David McGoldrick about a new deal.
The 38-year-old former Republic of Ireland international scored 15 goals in 37 league appearances this season.
The League One side, who have just reappointed Daniel Stendel as their boss after the departure of Conor Hourihane, are also in discussions with out-of-contract defender Eoghan O'Connell.
They have exercised the one-year options on the deals of defenders Mael de Gevigney and Jack Shepherd and midfielder Adam Phillips.
Defenders Marc Roberts and Tennai Watson, midfielder Jon Russell and forwards Andrew Dallas and Max Watters have all been released at the end of their contracts.
The Reds finished the season in 15th, 16 points off the play-offs.
