Andri Gudjohnsen insists he can score even more goals after signing a new long-term deal with Blackburn Rovers.

The Iceland striker, who is the son of Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers great Eidur, scored seven goals in his first injury-interrupted season following his arrival from Gent last summer.

All those goals came in a purple patch between October and December and the 24-year-old wants to stay fit having only been able to appear in 25 of Blackburn's 46 Championship fixtures.

"I've really enjoyed my time here so far," he told the club website., external

"It's been really nice coming into a new environment, a great group of players and I'm really happy overall with the football I've played.

"I was obviously injured for spells during the second half of the season and I really missed matchdays and training with the lads, so I'm just really excited to show more of what I can do.

"My main priority is staying fit for the whole season, finding my form again and being available for the team.

"There's definitely more to come from me. I've created some really good relationships with the players on the pitch and I understand them better now.

"Hopefully they also have a better understanding of the runs I make and where I'll be in the box, so I think things will only keep improving and I can be really optimistic for next season in terms of goals and assists."

Blackburn have not disclosed the length of Gudjohnsen's deal.
