Bunker happy for Carlisle's season to 'get going'

Carlisle United midfielder Harvey Bunker says he is relieved to see the club's season "get going" after their first win of the National League campaign.

The 4-1 victory over Hornchurch came after a shock loss to another newly promoted side in Worthing on the opening day and a draw away to Yeovil Town.

But it clicked at Brunton Park on Saturday as they claimed three points at the third time of asking under new head coach Rob Elliot.

"Unfortunately, it didn't happen in the first game but I thought we performed really well [against Worthing]," Bunker told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"That could have been a day where it started. It's taken three games to get going and this was a really good overall performance."

Bunker is one of the new arrivals this season as Carlisle change their approach under Elliot in an attempt to secure promotion back to League Two, having finished third in the National League last season.

The 23-year-old has settled in quickly with three goals in as many games, with the injury-time equaliser at Yeovil backed up by a double against Hornchurch.

"It's been really nice personally but I want to come here and help the team as much as I can to get promoted," he said.

"It's been a little bit of a slow start but we showed what we're about [against Hornchurch] and it was a great team performance."
