Burton Albion have made an offer to Kilmarnock to sign defender George Stanger.

The League One club have offered a significant sum to the Scottish Premiership club for the New Zealand centre-back but the exact fee is not known.

Stanger, 26, is under contract at Rugby Park until the summer of 2027.

The former Hamilton Academical and Ayr United player has established himself as a regular for Kilmarnock and has also broken into the New Zealand national team but is yet to win a senior cap.

Burton are keen to strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window closes and they have signed five other players this summer including strikers Gbemi Arubi and Matthew Dennis, goalkeeper Corey Addai, midfielder Will Collar and centre-back Curtis Tilt.
