Republic of Ireland Under-21s striker Adrien Thibaut has signed a new two-year contract with Crewe Alexandra.

His new agreement includes an option for a further 12 months.

The forward started out at Cobh Ramblers in the League of Ireland in 2022, and Crewe then spotted him playing for Bradford Park Avenue in the Northern Premier League East Division following an unsuccessful spell at Macclesfield Town.

Thibaut, 21, scored on his Alex debut against Liverpool Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy in August 2024 and claimed two goals in his first season in League Two.

He scored four goals on loan for Southport in the National League North between October and December last year as well as four for Crewe.

Thibaut has clocked up 49 first-team appearances for Alex, scoring six goals and recording four assists.

His old contract was due to expire this summer, with an additional one-year option.

Tracey and Powell among seven released by Crewe

Seven other players have been offered new contracts to stay with the Alex, with Lewis Billington, James Connolly, Stan Dancey, Luca Moore, Fin Roberts, Max Sanders and Conor Thomas all currently considering their futures.

Thibaut's new deal comes after Crewe released eight players following the end of the League Two season.

Olly Armstrong, Omar Bogle, Charlie Finney, Jordan Hodkin, Louis Moult, Jack Powell, Shilow Tracey and Zac Williams are all leaving the Alex when their contracts run out.

Striker Tracey joined on a free transfer three years ago but missed more than a year after breaking his leg in March 2025.

He returned to fitness to make three appearances from the bench at the end of this season but departs after scoring nine goals in 89 games.

Midfielder Powell played 30 times in the league this season and leaves after three years at the Mornflake Stadium.

"We had to let some fantastic people go. Some of them, I'd have liked to have kept, but we have to have ways of freshening up the squad and moving things forward," boss Lee Bell told the club website., external

"Unfortunately, that means you have to make tough decisions, and part of my job is to take emotion out of it."
