Guernsey's Muratti Vase win over Jersey is "massive" for Guernsey FC's play-off preparations, according to goalkeeper Josh Addison.

Addison saved a penalty and was named player of the match as a string of fine saves helped the Sarnians win on Jersey soil for the first time since 2014.

Now Guernsey attention turns to their club side who face Peacehaven & Telscombe in their delayed Southern Combination play-off final on Saturday.

Should Guernsey FC win, they will earn promotion to Isthmian League South East, a year after being relegated from that level.

"It's massive for us," Addison told BBC Sport about his island's 2-1 win at Springfield.

"We've had such a good season this season, and obviously the belief in the group was that we can go and win today, we can win next week and go up and make it a very special season."

Guernsey are hosting the play-off final after initially being stripped of the chance to play the game at Victoria Park.

Having won their semi-final on 2 May they were due to play the final on Sunday, 10 May.

But with Guernsey's annual Liberation Day celebrations that weekend the club could not provide adequate travel to Peacehaven & Telscombe for the game at short notice.

The Southern Combination Football League stripped the islanders of the chance to host the game before going back on their decision.

"We performed on the pitch, we earned it and then everyone in the background at the club obviously did all the dirty work and fought for us," added Addison.

"But we earned it - we should be at home and now we are and we've got to take advantage of that now and make sure we do the job next week."
