Shrewsbury Town have made their eighth signing of the summer by agreeing a season-long loan deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Sam Proctor.

The 19-year-old is a graduate of Villa's academy and has won the FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League title.

Proctor is the second player to arrive on loan - following Luton striker Joe Gbode -since Salop were put under a transfer fee ban until the end of the window in September by the English Football League (EFL).

Proctor will provide competition for last season's regular keeper Will Brook.

Shrewsbury have already brought in Arkell Jude-Boyd, Isaac Fletcher, Josh Davison, Byron Pendleton, Jack Price and Jay Turner-Cooke.

In addition, defenders Josh Ruffels and Luca Hoole have signed new contracts at Croud Meadow.
