Bournemouth's' Spanish defender Alex Jimenez has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan.

The deal includes a 20m euros (£17m) option to make the move permanent, and means he can continue to play after being suspended by his club pending the outcome of an investigation into social media allegations.

The 21-year-old was dropped from Bournemouth's first team in May following what the club said was a "serious matter" relating to "posts circulating on social media".

"The club wishes Alex well for the season ahead as he links up with Fiorentina," the Cherries said.

Jimenez initially joined the south coast side on loan from AC Milan before signing permanently in February on a deal running until 2031.

The Spain Under-21s international made 32 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring once.
