Leon Clarke headed Sheffield United in front but they were ahead for barely two minutes

Sheffield United and Millwall both remain in the Championship play-off race after drawing at Bramall Lane.

Leon Clarke headed in his 18th goal of the season from close range in the second half to put the Blades in front.

But Steve Morison instantly volleyed in Jake Cooper's long ball to level.

The Lions remain sixth in the table after Derby lost to Burton to slip out of the play-off spots, while the Blades are ninth, three points off the top six with three games left.

It extended Millwall's unbeaten run to 17 games, with only Fulham having picked up more than the Lions' 39 Championship points in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Blades were again left to rue their failure to hold on to a lead as they drew for the fourth time in the last six games.

Both sides had chances in a pulsating contest, with Millwall keeper Jordan Archer making fine saves to keep out Richard Stearman's shot and George Baldock's close-range effort in the first half, while at the other end Jamal Blackman brilliantly saved Cooper's header.

In a frantic finale as both sides sought a winner, Millwall's Shaun Hutchinson volleyed over from a corner and Blackman reacted superbly when Morison's header deflected off Blades defender Chris Basham.

But the Blades had a chance to win it too only for Archer to produce a fingertip save to keep out Billy Sharp's effort.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It was the right result. From our point of view we couldn't quite find the quality and when we did we weren't clinical.

"From our point of view it was a poor goal to give away, especially after getting our noses in front in a tight game.

"We've had the majority of the play, the majority of the chances and we've not got the result that we wanted.

"This doesn't enhance our chances but the picture can change in the space of a week because this division is so unpredictable. We're waiting and relying on other results but the season is still alive with three games to go."

Millwall boss Neil Harris told BBC Radio London: "It's a really good point, especially having been behind.

"I would have taken a point before the game because there is so much at stake for both clubs, and for us a point is huge.

"It keeps our unbeaten run going and the character our players showed in that red-hot atmosphere to come from behind is a good effort from the boys."
