Exeter City full-back Craig Woodman admits the club's defence must improve.

The League Two strugglers have yet to get a point at home this season and have suffered a string of injuries to experienced defenders since the start of 2015-16.

"As a back four we need to tighten up and stop conceding silly little goals," Woodman told BBC Sport.

"We seem to be giving teams a head start and that's what we've got to work on."

The Grecians are 23rd in League Two and 33-year-old Woodman is a decade older than the club's other fit defenders such as Jordan Moore-Taylor, Pierce Sweeney and Luke Croll.

"It's a great opportunity for the young lads to play a lot of league games here - (manager) Paul Tisdale is always keen to give them a go," added the former Brentford and Wycombe defender, who joined Exeter in 2012.

"I've just got to try to pass on what I know and what I've experienced."
