Team GB's Dimitri Coutya completed a stunning hat-trick of gold medals at the 2026 Para-fencing European Championships.

Coutya beat Polish fencer Adrian Castro 15-11 to win the sabre category B before bettering Italian Michele Massa 15-9 in the final of the foil category B.

On the back of winning the epee category B on his 29th birthday earlier in the week, it completed a remarkable treble in Cardiff.

"The back-to-back events are so brutal, the emotional control you need to have throughout the week really saps you but I am really proud," said Coutya.

"Despite it (foil) being my strongest weapon, I struggled to get into the headspace I needed.

"The semi-final was running away from me in the first half and I had to really work to bring myself to change and got through.

"I carried that positive change from the semi final to the final and it paid off. I'm happy to come away with the gold."

Welsh fencer Gemma Collis claimed a bronze in the epee category A event after narrowly losing her semi-final in sudden death overtime to Spaniard Judit Rodriguez Menendez.

It was a second bronze of the competition for Paralympian Collis having previously claimed third in the mixed team epee event.
