  1. Babar ends long way for T20 century in Zalmi's winpublished at 18:28 BST

A resurgent Babar Azam scored his first century in 67 T20 innings in Peshawar Zalmi's thumping 118-run victory over Quetta Gladiators.

Former Pakistan captain Babar's T20 game has come under scrutiny in recent years, no more so than this winter when he scored 91 runs across six matches at the T20 World Cup.

He also struggled in this winter's Big Bash - he scored 202 runs at a strike-rate of 103.06 and was retired out in one match - but has found form in the PSL with scores of 87 not out and 71 not earlier in the tournament.

He only faced one dot ball in his knock against Quetta but also hit six fours and four sixes in making exactly 100 not out in 52 balls.

The right-hander reached his 12th T20 hundred and his third in the Pakistan Super League off the final ball of the innings and roared in delight.

Zalmi's 255-3 was the third-highest total in PSL history. Sri Lanka batter Kusal Mendis also hit 83 from 44 balls.

Zalmi continued their dominance throughout the chase by taking wickets throughout. Quetta were 82-7 and limped on until 18.1 overs before being bowled out for 137.

The win extends unbeaten Zalmi's lead at the top of the table to five points with two matches to go.

  2. KKR finally win despite Archer & Suryavanshi's effortspublished at 14:59 BST

    Jofra ArcherImage source, Reuters

Kolkata Knight Riders finally won their first match of the Indian Premier League season despite Jofra Archer taking a wicket with the first ball of the innings for the third match in a row.

Archer bowled New Zealand opener Tim Seifert via a flick off his pads and KKR, who had lost five matches this year with one no result, slumped further by falling to 85-6 as they chased 156.

The hosts struggled against Rajasthan Royals spinners but India batter Rinku Singh, who capitalised on being dropped on eight by South African Nandre Burger, resurrected the chase and ended 53 not out.

Batting alongside Anukul Roy - left-hander Roy finished unbeaten on 29 from 16 balls - Singh took two fours and a six from the last over when nine runs were needed.

It sealed a four-wicket win with two balls to spare. England seamer Archer finished with 1-35 from his four overs.

With the bat, Royals failed to capitalise on another platform laid by 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi and fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

They put on 81 in 8.4 overs but Royals managed only 155-9 with no-one passing 20 after Suryavanshi was dismissed for 46 and Jaiswal 39.

The win lifts KKR above Mumbai Indians and off the bottom of the table. Rajasthan missed the chance to go top of the standings and stay third.

Multan Sultans held firm to beat Karachi Kings by 11 runs to move up to second in the Pakistan Super League table.

Multan appeared in control of the match after reducing Kings to 151-6 after 16 overs as they chased 208.

But Abbas Afridi thrashed three fours and two sixes and tailender Hasan Ali two sixes of his own, leaving 23 to get from the last two overs for a win that would have lifted Kings up from seventh in the table.

Veteran Australian seamer Peter Siddle, 41, dismissed Abbas for 34 to start the 19th over, however, and conceded only five runs.

Hasan was run out for 23 in the final over and Sultans won by 11 runs.

Their score of 207-7 was built through contributions of 36 by opener Awais Zafar, 44 by Australian Josh Philippe and 46 by Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood.

Multan move a point above Islamabad United, but sit two unbeaten leaders Peshawar Zalmi. Kings remain seven and have now lost four matches in a row.

  4. Sunrisers edge past CSK for crucial winpublished at 19:12 BST 18 April

Abhishek Sharma celebrates a fifty for Sunrisers HyderabadImage source, Reuters

Half-centuries by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen set up a crucial 10-run win for Sunrisers Hyderabad over Chennai Super Kings.

With both teams hovering mid-table, Sunrisers posted 194-9 with Sharma's stunning 15-ball fifty setting the platform.

Sharma's partnership with Australia's Travis Head flourished again as they added 75 in 5.4 overs before Klaasen's 59 ensured they did not lose their momentum through the middle.

Sunrisers' bowlers regained some control at the death with fine efforts from Anshul Kamboj and England's Jamie Overton to take three wickets each.

However, many of their batters failed to convert their starts in the manner of Sharma and Klaasen with Matt Short's 34 the top score.

CSK kept themselves in contention with 18 needed from the final over, and were gifted a free hit by Praful Hinge, but the seamer held his nerve and conceded just seven from it to conclude an otherwise expensive spell of 1-60.

Eshan Malinga was the pick of Sunrisers' bowlers with 3-29 as they climb to fourth in the table, with CSK in seventh.

Rawalpindiz remain winless in the Pakistan Super League after they suffered a 32-run defeat by Lahore Qalandars.

Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 84 from 54 balls in Lahore's 210-4, having added 121 for the first wicket with Mohammad Farooq, who hit five sixes in his 63.

Mohammad Amir was the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 2-25.

Rawalpindiz were immediately pegged back as Lahore captain Shaheen Shah Afridi removed both openers inside the first three overs, before Yasir Khan counter-attacked with 58 from 29 balls.

Saad Masood also made a half-century but lacked support from the rest of the middle order as Lahore's bowlers chipped away with regular wickets, including Sam Billings for seven.

Rawalpindiz finished on 178-9, and remain at the bottom of the table after seven games, while Lahore are one place above them with three wins.

  6. Miller leads Delhi to thrilling final over win v RCBpublished at 15:26 BST 18 April

David Miller and Tristan Stubbs for Delhi CapitalsImage source, Reuters

David Miller held his nerve in the final over as Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets with a ball to spare.

Needing 15 runs to win from the last six balls in pursuit of 176, South Africa's Miller whacked two sixes and a four off Romario Shepherd, who had not previously bowled in the innings.

RCB had expertly squeezed Delhi in the middle overs, conceding just 22 between overs 13 to 17, but took a gamble with their frontline bowlers including Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar all bowled out before the death.

Miller's compatriot Tristan Stubbs finished unbeaten on 60 from 47 balls, having come in with the score 18-3 after Bhuvneshwar ripped through the Delhi top order.

Opener KL Rahul rescued the chase with 57 but his dismissal in the 10th over shifted the momentum back to RCB, who became strong favourites again when Delhi skipper Axar Patel retired hurt on 26, only for Miller to produce his final over heroics.

England's Phil Salt top-scored with 63 from 38 balls in RCB's 175-8, but they also struggled in the middle overs after reaching 99-2 after 10.

Delhi's bowlers chipped in with regular wickets throughout to restrict the defending champions, with Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel claiming two wickets each.

  7. Green finds form but KKR's woes continue published at 23:38 BST 17 April

Cameron Green batting for Kolkata Knight Riders Image source, Reuters

Six games, no wins - what is going wrong for Kolkata Knight Riders?

There has been plenty of discussion around the form of Australia all-rounder Cameron Green, who became the IPL's most expensive overseas signing and the third-most expensive player ever when KKR signed him for 25.2 crore (£2.1m) in December's auction.

Green had scored 56 runs in his first five innings before hitting his stride with 79 from 55 balls in the defeat by Gujarat Titans, and is just beginning his return to bowling after a series of injuries. He has figures of 1-28 and 0-30 in the two games in which he has bowled.

The price tag has potentially made Green undroppable but there are plenty of other concerns for KKR. Their bowling attack has been hampered by injuries to India internationals Harshit Rana and Akash Deep but in particular, they are struggling to decide on a settled batting line-up.

Green himself has been shuffled between positions three, four and six, and found little support from elsewhere even when he did score against Gujarat.

After a slump to 37-3 in the powerplay, Green and Rovman Powell led a recovery to 147-4, only to lose their last six wickets for just 41 runs. The middle to lower order threw their wickets away, while Green was guilty of taking questionable singles at the beginning of the 17th and 18th overs to find himself starved of the strike.

He ended up facing just 11 balls in the final four overs and could only score four runs from them before he was dismissed from the final ball of the innings.

"When you have a start [to the tournament] like we've had, these things are highlighted a bit more," said former New Zealand seamer Tim Southee, KKR's bowling coach.

"Cam was brilliant, he has been unlucky in a few games but it was great to see him in the runs today and hopefully that sets him up for the rest of the tournament."

At the top of the order, KKR's opening partnership is averaging just 24 and that has also been rejigged - Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine have both been moved, and Finn Allen was dropped for Tim Seifert against Gujarat.

KKR are bottom of the table with just one point from a rain-affected game against Punjab, and they face a quick turnaround by facing in-form Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.

  8. Sublime Gill stars as Gujarat beat struggling KKRpublished at 19:09 BST 17 April

Shubman Gill's masterful 86 from 50 balls led Gujarat Titans to a five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, who remain winless after six matches.

Gill dominated Gujarat's chase of 181, hitting eight fours and four sixes before he was dismissed at the end of the 17th over with 23 runs required.

KKR's bowlers took the game to the final over but with just five needed from it, Gujarat reached their target with two balls to spare despite losing Glenn Phillips for 19.

England's Jos Buttler also made 25 from 15 balls in the chase.

KKR's woes continued as they slipped to 37-3 in the powerplay, before Australia all-rounder and the IPL's most expensive overseas signing Cameron Green revived the innings with his first half-century of this year's tournament.

Green helped KKR recover to 147-4 but they suffered a collapse of six wickets for 41 runs to be bowled out for 180 from the final ball, with Rovman Powell's 27 the only other contribution of note.

South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with 3-29.

KKR remain bottom of the table with just one point from a rain-affected game, while Gujarat are fourth.

Rilee Rossouw struck an unbeaten 60 from 49 balls as Quetta Gladiators eased to a six-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore were skittled for 134 in 19.5 overs as Haseebullah Khan top-scored with 33, while Jahandad Khan and Usman Tariq took three wickets each for Quetta.

Quetta's chase started poorly as they lost both openers in the first three overs, with Shamyl Hussain dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi for a duck and Saud Shakeel was run out for one.

But South African Rossouw added 104 for the third wicket with Hasan Nawaz, who made 49 from 32 balls, to lay the foundations for a comfortable chase before they reached their target in 16.2 overs.

The result sees Quetta move up to fourth in the table while Lahore are seventh with two wins from six.

Seamer Praful Hinge took three wickets in his first over, including in-form 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a first-ball duck, in a game of impressive debuts for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals.

Opening the bowling, right-armer Hinge, 24, had Suryavanshi caught off a top edge, ending the teenager's run of form after scores of 78 in 26 balls, 39, 31 and 52.

The ILT20 franchise league will move forward again this winter with its opening match to be played on 22 November.

The fourth edition of the T20 league ran from 4 December to 2 January last winter, having been brought forward to avoid a clash with the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

This year's tournament will run from 22 November to 20 December.

Organisers hope it will mean a clearer window for players, though England have a T20 series in Australia between 21 November and 2 December.

The ILT20, held in the United Arab Emirates, has previously clashed with the Big Bash in Australia and South Africa's SA20.

Last year's Big Bash ran from 14 December to 25 January, while the SA20 is expected to be played from early January next year.

England all-rounder Sam Curran led Desert Vipers to their first title in last year's ILT20.

Phil Salt, Tom Banton and Jordan Cox, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Dan Lawrence, Moeen Ali and a host of other England players also featured.

Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka and West Indies trio Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford and Andrew Russell were among the international names.
