It is early days in the Vitality T20 Blast but eight teams remain unbeaten in the competition after wins for Surrey, Northants, Durham, Somerset and Yorkshire.

Sam Curran's unbeaten 71 anchored a chase as Surrey beat Middlesex at Lord's, while the recently called-up James Rew did the same with 93 for Somerset against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Just to prove there is still a good tune to be had from an old fiddle, Moeen Ali rolled back the years with a swinging half-century as Yorkshire chased down 195 against Derbyshire.

At Durham, the hosts had a slightly less nervy six-wicket win over Leicestershire, while Northants were barely out of a trot to get past Worcestershire Rapids at New Road, winning by 100 runs.

So eight teams have a 100% record. They also include Gloucestershire, who did not play, as well as Kent and Sussex, who are both one from one and will put their unbeaten records on the line when they meet on Monday.

South Group: Curran brothers sink hapless Middlesex

Sam Curran starred with the bat as Surrey eased to a six-wicket win over Middlesex at Lord's, with older brother Tom chipping in with one of the most bizarre dismissals seen in the Blast.

Needing 144 for victory after a hapless Middlesex batting display, Surrey were momentarily wobbling at 18-2 before Sam Curran's unbeaten 71 and an 88-run partnership with Laurie Evans steered them home.

Yet the match also featured one of the strangest dismissals, when Ryan Higgins lost a grip on his bat trying to drive Tom Curran to the rope only for the bat to loop up back over his head and land on his stumps.

Higgins' comedic exit rather summed up a performance from Middlesex which failed to gather momentum - and when it did tripped over its own feet.

After a decent start at 37-0, Middlesex lost three wickets in four deliveries, with Jordan Clark dismissing Adam Rossington with the final ball of the fifth over and Reece Topley taking two in three balls at the start of the sixth.

Middlesex never really recovered from those blows, with only Luke Hollman (35*) and Eathan Bosch (31) belatedly nudging up the total with some late-order hitting.

Surrey made a stodgy start to their reply, with Noah Cornwell removing Jason Roy (the opener made two from 13 balls) and Tom Helm taking 2-24.

But with Sam Curran and Evans combining for the fifth wicket and striking nine fours and six sixes between them, Surrey were able to ease home.

Victory for Surrey kept them top of South Group with a perfect two from two record, a start they share with Northants Steelbacks who went top of Central & West on net run rate over Gloucestershire.

James Rew top-scored with 93 as Somerset beat Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston

Rew continued his blistering start to the Blast, following up an unbeaten 47 with a match-winning 93 as Somerset beat Warwickshire Bears by seven wickets with 10 balls remaining.

The Bears posted an imposing total of 189-6 in decent batting conditions with Sam Hain striking a hard-hitting 35-ball 52 with three maximums and Rob Yates (42) and Beau Webster (41).

But Rew, who has been named in the latest England squad, shared a 56-run partnership with Tom Banton for the second wicket, then bettered that with a 107-run stand for the third with Tom Abell as Somerset got home by seven wickets.

Victory moved Somerset into second place in the Central & West Group on the heels of pace-setters Northants Steelbacks, who kept their unbeaten record intact against Worcestershire Rapids.

The Steelbacks posted an imposing 191 after David Willey (46*) elected to bat first against their hosts at New Road.

In reply, the Rapids were blown away for 91 in 14.4 overs with Calvin Harrison (4-17), James Sales (3-28) and Ben Sanderson (2-8) ensuring only three Worcestershire players got into double figures.

Durham opener Graham Clark top scored with 62 as his side ease past the Foxes

Durhams' strong start to the Blast season continued with a dominant performance to beat Leicestershire Foxes by six wickets with six overs to spare at the Riverside.

Matthew Potts 3-28, including two wickets in an over, checked the Foxes charge with the bat as the visitors were restricted to 148-8.

The opening pair of Graham Clark (62) and Alex Lees (45) put on 107 for the opening partnership – the former registering a 19th 50-plus T20 score for Durham, eclipsing a club record set by Phil Mustard.

Despite losing four wickets for 21 runs after Lees was dismissed, Colin Ackermann (19) and wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson (10) saw Durham home.

Moeen rolled back the years for Yorkshire, giving crucial momentum to the middle of a big run chase to down Derbyshire at Headingley.

Martin Andersson helped the visitors to 194-4 with a superb unbeaten 81. But, arriving at the wicket with Yorkshire wilting at 49-3, the former England all-rounder hit a 35-ball 51.

When Moeen was out at 123-7 Yorkshire still needed 72 runs, but an unbeaten ninth-wicket partnership between Andrew Tye (32) and Hasan Ali (31) got the White Rose over the line with four balls to spare.

Yorkshire sit second in North Group, behind Durham on eight points but with a slightly inferior net run-rate.
