The Cubs once more get a runner into scoring position but can't convert and the Yankees win the game 2-1 and the series by the same scoreline.

It was quite a tactical battle at Wrigley Field but in the end the Yankees pitching unit managed to keep getting themselves out of trouble and that saw them through.

The Yankees are unable to add any more runs so it's all down to the Cubs final three outs.

They have made a habit of hitting walk-off runs this season. Can they do it again?

This game has an effect on so many other teams across both the American and National Leagues. So far good news for Frank and the Brewers who would maintain their 6.5 game advantage at the top of the NL Central division if the Cubs do go on to lose this one.

He can! The Cubs leave three runners stranded as Nico Hoerner flies out to centre field. That feels like a huge moment for the Yankees.

The Cubs finally come alive in the fourth inning.

Seiya Suzuki gets things moving with a double before Michael Busch singles to right field and Suzuki reaches home plate with ease.

The Yankees now lead 2-1.

Sorry Cubs fans, I jinxed it.

Through two innings the pitchers are very much on top in Chicago.

Colin Rea has already recorded five strikeouts for the Cubs while Gerritt Cole has three of his own for the Yankees.

Just one player on base so far, and that was through a walk. Impressive from both pitchers.

The Yankees star has recorded 30 stolen bases already this season as well as hitting 16 home runs and is making a name for himself in New York.

But he also has an eye on representing Great Britain at the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.

The Yankees make four changes to the side that lost 5-2 to the Cubs last night.

Their leading home run hitter Ben Rice returns alongside Trent Grisham, Ryan McMahon and Austin Wells. Max Schueman, Paul Goldschmidt, Anthony Volpe and Ali Sanchez drop out and Gerritt Cole is one the mound.

For the Cubs Pedro Ramirez replaces James Triantos as the Designated Hitter and Miguel Amaya comes in for Carson Kelly at Catcher.

The New York Yankees are in town for this one as they finish off a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Both sides are enjoying good seasons so far and both sit top of the Wild Card standings in their respective leagues.

The Cubs record of 63 wins for 48 defeats is just one win better off than the Yankees at 62-49.

They have one win each in this series, so who will come out on top this Sunday afternoon?
