Protests planned over Spain housing crisis

Weekend

Available for 29 days

Mass demonstrations are planned in cities across Spain to demand action on the country's housing crisis. The largest is expected in Madrid, where protesters have been camping out in a central square. Tensions have been building since an 87-year-old woman was evicted from her home in the capital after her rent increased by two hundred percent. Also in the programme: a swimming academy in Gaza is offering classes for children who've lost their limbs in Israeli attacks; and we reflect on the career of the American composer Steve Reich who turns 90 today. Joining Julian Worricker on the panel are Jemima Kelly, columnist for the Financial Times newspaper, and Fuad Musallam, lecturer in anthropology at University College London.
