Greenland Prime Minister: Security deal respects our right to self determination

Weekend

Available for 29 days

Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has told Weekend that a newly signed security deal was 'fantastic' as it respects the country's right to self-determination. The defence deal signed between Greenland, the US and Denmark allows Washington to build two new military bases while reaffirming Copenhagen's sovereignty over Greenland. It comes after President Trump repeatedly speculated about taking Greenland by force. Also in the programme: we look at the accusations that the United States has influenced tomorrow's elections in Brazil; and Manchester City launches an appeal against a ruling that found it guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League's financial rules. Joining Julian Worricker on the panel are Jemima Kelly, columnist for the Financial Times newspaper, and Fuad Musallam, lecturer in anthropology at University College London.
