Lebanon enters talks with Israel

Newsday

Available for 29 days

On Monday, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem urged Lebanon to cancel the planned meeting with Israel. The group rejects the idea of direct negotiations with Israel. The purpose of the talks is to end the conflict engulfing southern Lebanon where Israel is striking Hezbollah positions, forcing hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee, killing more than 2,000. The US blockade of ships passing through the straits of Hormuz has come into force - targetted at those vessels travelling from Iran. We'll look at what impact this will have on the globally economy and in particular how China will react to the potential damage to the global economy.
