Wythenshawe 100: The history of the 'Garden City'
BBC Radio Manchester SpecialAvailable for over a year
This year marks 100 years of Wythenshawe. In 1926, the Manchester Corporation bought 2,500 acres of farmland to build new homes. Over the next few decades tens of thousands of families moved into their new properties, leaving behind the overcrowded slums of inner-city Manchester. BBC Radio Manchester's Eamonn O'Neal is from Wythenshawe and has been hearing from people who have great memories of moving there.
