Grace Barton follows in a long line of dance music stars made in the Wyre Forest, after Bewdley's Becky Hill and Kidderminster's Emily Nash. The songwriter and vocalist spent her childhood between Kidderminster, Worcester and Malvern, enjoying weekends along the River Severn, trips into town with friends and summers performing with Malvern Young Theatre. Those experiences helped shape the artist who would go on to become one of the UK's most exciting rising names in electronic music. Now signed to Universal and clocking up streams in the tens of millions, across more than 120 countries, Grace has taken another major step in her career by landing her own show on Radio 1 Dance, invited to curate a chilled drum & bass mix. Having received some of her earliest support through BBC Introducing, she reflects on her Worcestershire upbringing, the places and people that influenced her in an extraordinary journey - where we find her on the other side of the Irish Sea at a writing retreat.
