From "Chocco Lad" to published author

Gilly Hope on BBC Radio Newcastle

Available for over a year

Living with severe kidney disease since birth, Dylan Lowes from Washington spent much of his childhood travelling between home and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for treatment. Doctors never expected his transplanted kidney to last as long as it did, but Dylan has spent decades proving people wrong. Now in his late twenties, he's back on dialysis three times a week while waiting for another transplant and he's now become a published author, writing a fantasy novel while navigating life with chronic illness. He popped into the studio to tell Gilly Hope how he became known as the "chocco lad".
